Pagoda
Pagoda is a storage cabinet inspired by the form of Buddhist pagodas. Each level carries an eave, and the cabinet opens by rotation instead of by pulling drawers. The user grasps an eave and turns the level around an axis at the back, which opens more storage area within the same footprint. The lowest level is a traditional drawer 15 centimeters high, and this drawer keeps the center of gravity low and stable. Four universal wheels allow the cabinet to be moved easily. The body is made of red zebrawood.
Pagoda Cabinet by Bruce Tao was recognized as an innovative example of industrial design by the A' Design Awards. Pagoda Cabinet was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in Furniture Design in 2021. The A' Furniture Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design recognition program that rewards exceptional design of chairs, tables, sofas, beds, cabinets, shelves, desks, wardrobes and more.
