Venus
Venus is a multi-purpose furniture piece that works as both a sofa and a cradle. The oval structure is made of wood cut by a CNC machine, filled with 60 mm upholstery foam and covered with fabric. A plywood fence can be turned down to protect the baby. A cushion with stethoscope technology lets the mother hear the heartbeat of the fetus during pregnancy. Venus supports rest, feeding and sleep for a mother and a child up to five years old. The form is inspired by ancient Iranian clay statues of the Neolithic era.
Venus Cradle Furniture by Golnoush Zamani and Hajar Shahsavari has been highlighted as an outstanding illustration of industrial design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Venus Cradle Furniture was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in Furniture Design in 2022. The A' Furniture Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design award which celebrates excellent design of chairs, tables, sofas, beds, cabinets, shelves, desks, wardrobes and more.
