Decker Folding Yacht Chair

Decker

Decker is a folding chair designed for use on yachts. The chair opens as a low lounge chair and folds to a compact form only 100 millimetres thick. The frame is made of stainless steel with trapezoidal tubing and cast lugs, joined by brass hardware at the pivot points. Teak slats are attached to webbing straps rather than to the frame, so the seat and back flex with the user. An over-centre geometry holds the straps in tension when the chair is open. A jog in the seat frame forms a carrying handle, and magnets keep the folded legs in place.

Decker Folding Yacht Chair by Cameron Smith was recognized as a creative illustration of industrial design by the A' Design Award. Decker Folding Yacht Chair received the Iron A' Design Award in Furniture Design in 2022. The A' Furniture Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design competition which celebrates outstanding design of chairs, tables, sofas, beds, cabinets, shelves, desks, wardrobes and more.
